Why Chasing Feels Empty (Until It Doesn’t)

From “desire is the root cause of all suffering” to “burning desire is the starting point of all achievement” – there exists a full spectrum. And somewhere along it, lies a quiet shift from selfishness to selflessness.

Desires have a hierarchy. Not all of them are equal. Some serve only you, and some serve beyond you.

From the flirty text you want to send to someone, to the car you want to show off, to the vacation you’ve bookmarked for sipping pina coladas on a beach – all the way to building something meaningful, solving a problem that’s too real to ignore, or simply doing what feels deeply right.

Here’s one infallible truth in this world: Desires never go away when satisfied; they always come back with greater intensity.

The anchor question underlying these endeavours is: Why am I doing this?

If the answer is “I want more of this,” be careful.

But if the answer is, “Wouldn’t it be amazing if people got to use this?” or “Isn’t this too important to not exist?” – you’re walking a higher path.

In life, devote yourself to the highest, and the lower stuff starts losing its grip automatically.
