Rebels, Backbenchers, and Low GPA Club

Rebels, backbenchers, and low GPA club, listen up:

I know things don’t add up right now. I know you think you’re at the wrong place, studying the wrong course, and stuck in the wrong trajectory.

Most of you just want to survive these four years by getting a ‘P’ everyday on the attendance sheet.

Man, understand: Whether it’s an institute or a workplace – most of us are not born with the privilege to raise a middle finger and walk out of situations we don’t like. That stance in life has to be earned.

And it cannot be earned just by relying on the brands of your college, your clubs, or your workplace.

You have two paths in front of you:

Plead for attendance at the end of every semester, pass exams anyhow, inflate your resume, and land a placement only to repeat the cycle of disappointments.

Or

You can channelise your energies, and spend a few years reading a lot of non-fiction books. Learn some timeless skills like communication, articulation, critical thinking, and creating influence. Try out different real world projects – organizing events, something entrepreneurial, maybe building a personal brand around a niche.

The more you do this, the more you’ll start believing in your own abilities. The more you do this, the more you’ll stop relying on external brands to build your identity.

The pitch of your ideas will start falling on fertile soil. THAT is the real purpose of education.

Working hard in life doesn’t always mean working towards good grades. We are all built different. So while you’re in college, don’t waste your time – keep working on yourself.

Play the long game well, and you will see results. Keep no doubt about it.
